Happy New Year everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday Season and everyone is ready to take on 2018!
We had a great turn out at our Global Fat Bike Day Ride
back on December 5th with over 30 riders participating! Later that
night we celebrated at Beaver Island Brewing Co. our new Fat Bike Trail
groomer (The SnowDog) and raised money for our winter grooming efforts
lead by Matt Van Vleet. We pulled in around $1,000.00 and everyone left
with a prize (or 3) from the raffle. Thanks again to Fitzharris Bike
and Sport, Revolution Cycle and Ski, 45North, Wolf Tooth, Onyx and
Podiumwear for your donations! Now we need some snow so he can take
that bad boy out for a spin on our local trails!
Where to Ride?
Plum Creek and The North Loop (aka Jail Trail)
Can be ridden at all times.
PLEASE STAY OFF THE NORDIC SKI TRAIL
Fat Bike Tires ONLY!
Stearns County Park Trails
I've
been told that all Stearns County Park Trails can be ridden with a Fat
Bike or hiked on while they wait for enough snow to groom. All walking
trails can be biked on throughout the winter as well. Once there is
enough snow for grooming then please stick to just the walking trails
while biking.
Look for some group rides in the New Year, we have a few ideas up our sleeves!
Upcoming Ski Event at Quarry Park
Non Cycling event but still Winter Fun!!!
The
2018 Moonlight Ski at Quarry Park is on Friday, January 5 from
6:00-10:00 p.m. In addition to connecting with others who enjoy skiing
and using the lighted trails, there will be a "Hot Tent" demo and ski
lessons (courtesy of Prairie Woods Environmental Center who has
partnered with Stearns County Parks utilizing Legacy funding; Prairie
Woods will be bringing skis to expand access for those new or newer to
Nordic skiing). There will also be the chili feed and door prizes.
Happy Trails!
